FO: Linnea cardigan

Pattern: Novita (Finnish knitting manazine)
Yarn: Novita Linnea (60% cotton, 40% Linen)

This is a late Christmas present for my cousin Mirja, hope she likes it (I do!). Found the pattern from a knitting magazine and even though it was made from a thick wool yarn, I could vision knitting it from this natural looking, bit rough cotton/linen yarn. So, I calculated the stitches again and begun. I started this between Christmas and New Year and finished it today. Proparbly the fastest I will ever finish a big project like this.

Here's some extra pictures, check out my mad modelling skills (you think the modelling world would need a short girl with a big head but lots of attitude?)

Short yarn review: Novita Spring/Summer 2008

Happy New Year everyone!

I was surfing around the web yesterday after work and found my way to Novita’s page. For those of you not living in Finland, it’s a local yarn brand here. The spring/summer 2008 colors look interesting…

Bright yellow seems to be is fashion. Very bright and energetic, reminds me a bit too much of Easter, though. This would make a cute knitted or crocheted toy, though.

Ah, this I like. A guy at work says that the color orange makes people insane. These are more like 70’s orange to me. Kind of surprising that the people at Novita have come up with these really bright colors instead of the basic pastel colors. I could imagine knitting something with the orange Samos yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic), it looks really funky.

Light green/lime… Tennessee (100% cotton) and Bambu (68% bamboo, 32% cotton) look better than Palma (100% polyamide) or Samos. I could definitely make something in this color, in fact I’m wearing a lime colored cardigan at the moment!

Nice, bright pink. Again, a surprising color choice in my opinion, I’ve always regarded Novita yarns as somewhat mellow, plain and uninteresting. I actually might have to buy some Tennessee yarn in this color because it looks like the perfect yarn for the Cables and O’s cardigan from No Sheep for You.
That's all I have to say about that. I have an FO for you but no pictures yet... I'll be back later with that post.
